Terry Gross

Terry Gross is the host and an executive producer of Fresh Air, the daily program of interviews and reviews. It is produced at WHYY in Philadelphia, where Gross began hosting the show in 1975, when it was broadcast only locally. She was awarded a National Humanities Medal from President Obama in 2016. Fresh Air with Terry Gross received a Peabody Award in 1994 for its “probing questions, revelatory interviews and unusual insight.” America Women in Radio and Television presented her with a Gracie Award in 1999 in the category of National Network Radio Personality. In 2003, she received the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s Edward R. Murrow Award for her “outstanding contributions to public radio” and for advancing the “growth, quality and positive image of radio.” Gross is the author of All I Did Was Ask: Conversations with Writers, Actors, Musicians and Artists, published by Hyperion in 2004. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and received a bachelor’s degree in English and M.Ed. in communications from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She began her radio career in 1973 at public radio station WBFO in Buffalo, NY.

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez

He's the man behind the family adventure films Spy Kids and Spy Kids 2. His list of credits include writer, director, producer, director of photography, production designer, editor, visual effects supervisor, sound designer, re-recording mixer and composer. His first feature film was El Mariachi, which he made in 1993 for $7,000. It won the Audience Award for best dramatic film at the Sundance Film Festival. He also wrote a book about making El Mariachi called Rebel Without a Crew. Spy Kids 2 is now out on video. This interview first aired August 6, 2002.

Actor Clint Eastwood

He'll receive the Lifetime Achievement Award Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Eastwood found an audience in spaghetti westerns such as A Fistful of Dollars and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Stardom came with his role in a number of films as police inspector Harry Callahan, title character of Dirty Harry. He directed and starred in Play Misty for Me and the Oscar-winning Unforgiven. Eastwood is an avid jazz fan; he also directed Bird, starring Forest Whitaker as Charlie Parker, and he produced Straight No Chaser a documentary about Thelonious Monk.

Actor Kevin Spacey

He's a two-time Academy Award winner for his performances in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty. His other films include L.A. Confidential, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Negotiator and The Shipping News. On television he was a regular in the series Wiseguy. In 1997 Spacey formed Trigger Street Productions, which has produced films and Broadway plays. Recently Spacey launched TriggerStreet.com, an interactive Web site dedicated to nurturing and developing undiscovered talent. Spacey's new film, The Life of David Gale, hits theaters this weekend. David Brock on 'Republican Noise'

David Brock is the author of the best-selling memoir Blinded by the Right: the Conscience of an Ex-Conservative. Brock defected from the Republican Party in the latter half of the 1990s and came to renounce the anti-Clinton movement in which he took part. His new book is The Republican Noise Machine: Right-Wing Media and How it Corrupts Democracy. He now heads a nonprofit media watchdog organization in Washington, D.C.
